Florence

Florence was my "home base" so to speak. This is where I lived & took classes for the month!
So Florence definitely has a special place in my heart over the others.

I was lucky (according to local Italians) in that I lived on the opposite side of the Arno river. The city center was on the main side of the river, which is also where all of my classes were! The other side of the river where I lived was directly across from Palazzo Pitti, and was home to the more authentic, non tourist trap, restaurants and businesses.

Even though my apartment was a 25 minute walk to everything I needed, it was so worth it to get a more authentic experience! (and the best gelato in town.) A slightly blurry photo of me walking down an adjacent street to mine with the sun setting behind me. There is a vintage Florence stamp in the corner of the image.

A photo of me pointing to where my apartment was on a raised map of Palazzo Pitti. Taped to the corner is an image of the Pitti Palace. My apartment was very cozy and definitely helped me to live the Italy experience. Some of my friends' apartments didnt have AC, but mine did thankfully. It had the tiniest wooden door and the steepest stone staircases youve ever seen, but it was mine for the month. A photo of me posing in front of the Duomo in Florence, only a 15 minute walk from my apartment.
